On may 27th Goat Longboards will be releasing two new models: Aurea and Vortex.
We have been working very close to our team of riders for over a year in order to develop these new models. They have voiced their needs to us: shorter boards, more flex, accented tails…
Aurea, be magical!
Our wish was to complete the dance and freestyle board family by adding a new model with a similar concept to that of our Uzume and our Soul boards. A symmetrical longboard with a light rocker, a flat surface for setting the trucks, and a little more flex than her older sisters.
Many models and many prototypes later Aurea showed up, with 38” in length and 9,25” in width, a sole 23” wheelbase, more accented tails and a soft and comfortable flex for dancing.
Vortex, let it flow!
We also wanted to make a more versatile board: A wider longboard with very little flex, wide tails and larger surface area for your feet. A board for dancing, freestyle, and freeride that you can ride in a pump track or even dare to try it out in the bowl!
We knew it would be challenging to reach a common ground between these two styles without losing some of the specific qualities that the board needs for each discipline, but thanks to our riders and the work we’ve done together, we have arrived to our Vortex: A symmetric longboard with 38” in length and 9,5” in width, a very light and reactive board. Featuring a light rocker, a flat surface for the trucks, a soft concave which accentuates towards the higher part of the board right before reaching the trucks. Two Wheel Base positions, 22” and 23,5”, which you can adjust to your style of riding. You can even combine both distances to use the board in a unidirectional manner, allowing you to have both tail and nose.
Its wide and steep tails will let you to fly your board through the air and land on all your tricks with ease.
For our Aurea and Vortex graphics, we collaborated with Josema Carrillo, the artist behind the graphic design of our Uzume, this time creating a totally different yet bold style.
From the beginning of this project we wanted both of our new boards to share a concept, a common origin, so we decided that both their names and graphic design on them should be related. After many months of exchanging information, discussing the graphic concept, testing, and changing our direction radically, the final graphics for Vortex and Aurea began to emerge: vortices that originate from a center and expand in Auric Proportion.
Now that they’ve been introduced, they are ready to be taken our for a ride.
Welcome to our family Vortex and Aurea, let them Flow!
